Default Baking soda acid neutralizer recipe?

Curious as to what your formulas/ratios are for acid neutralizing solutions?

Trojan's website has care and maintenance tips. I'm off to work in a minute, so no time to search, but it may also be addressed here:

From the EZGO owners manual: 1/4C baking soda per 1.5 gallons of water.
I keep a cheap tank sprayer just for this purpose. If using a tank sprayer it should have a plastic wand. Make sure battery caps are on tight. Spray battery tops and adjacent areas (hold downs and battery tray). Use a soft bristle brush or cloth to remove any residue. Let sit for a few minutes and rinse with a low pressure spray (garden hose).

My experience: Keeping the batteries clean, properly watered and charged will make a noticeable difference in performance and longevity. Also this will minimize rust on the battery trays and keep your garage floor clean.

I have seen lots of battery tops cleaned in the following method... it may not be the most precise way. It may in fact waste some of that 59cent box of baking soda... but here's how they did em...
1. Cover the Controller and F&R switch with plastic bags and tape shut
2.Hose the loose debris and dirt off the top of the batteries
3. Sprinkle baking soda from the box onto the top of the batteries... concentrate on the trouble spots.
4. Wait 10-15 minutes and hose off the batteries.
5. Dry the battery bay with a leaf blower
6. Repeat (add scrub brush action) if needed
6. Remove plastic bags and check operation.

I use a system similar to kernal's above except that I don't use any rag to wipe things off. I first blow off all the loose dirt and dust with a power blower and then baking soda in the sprayer and wet everything down well until it stops foaming. Then I use the garden hose with sprayer to clean everything with clean water (use the shower type spray not a direct stream) after that I again use the leaf blower to get off all the water and then let it sit in the sun for a bit for a final dry. I do this once a month on our fleet of 4 carts and it seems to work well.

I clean mine the way Scottyb described. But sometimes I notice that there is bicarb left on there that I didn't get off. Would that hurt the batteries too, or is it too mild a base?

Straight out of the box for me. Rarely do you have to wait more than a few minutes.
I know of no reason the residue would have an adverse effect. But, i use an old paint brush to ensure I get everything clean and all the powder removed.

I understand coca cola will do the same thing but we don't use that down here or we'd have more problems...ants.

Coca Cola is acidic. You want to neutralize acid, not add more.

these are two different types of acid. Batteries contain sulfuric acid while coke contains phosphoric acid which dissolves many things including terminal corrosion
