Forward Reverse Switch Issues EZGO Electric TXT 2004
I have a 2004 EZGO TXT I just bought. Had no batteries so I put in a new set. Got everything hooked up and ran fine until I noticed a burnt wire smell. Found that the solenoid was very hot as well as the main + wire. Changed solenoid, however found that the driver side (9 oclock) wire on f/r switch was very hot. Connections all seem to be good. What would cause that and what should I do?
Thanks |

Clean the wire connections first. Take each wire off one at a time and clean the connections. If you are getting high heat from one specific cable than either that cable or connection has gone bad. There is the possibility of the cable end having some corrosion or broken strands in it. A new FNR and cables from ScottyB would give you a high peace of mind.
Sheesh, now I'm sounding like an advertiser for Scotty. Not my intention but you have something going south at that connection and it will not get better. |

By the time your FNR starts smelling, it's probably time to replace it.

Swaped out a F/R Switch from a parts cart and put in a new solenoid for now so the kids can ride it. Will be upgrading to heavy duty switch and solenoid and heavier cables. Will probally upgrade the speed control box also.
