06 Txt--dead after new battery install?
Cart worked fine before, just was needing some new batteries. I put 6 new Trojans in and now I have nothing, no clicks nothing.
There was a slight problem at first connection, the previous owner had spliced the wrong gauge wire for the key switch, which basically melted when I turned the key after the new battery install. Did I fry something? I suspect I mixed some wiring? Thank you, appreciate any advice. |

Re: 06 Txt--dead after new battery install?
Welcome to BGW!
A TXT is a body style and it had two different drive systems. The control wiring of each type drive system is wired differently. If the F/R control on your cart is by the driver's right knee, you have a Series drive TXT. If it is a rocker switch by the key switch on the dash, you have a PDS drive TXT. For starters, let's make sure the batteries are wired correctly. Fortunately, the battery pack is wired the same for both Series and PDS TXT carts. Here is a drawing of the proper battery layout for a TXT cart. Note that the terminals on the front and rear row of batteries face the opposite directions. ------------ Wrong wire gauge or not, if it was working previously, the control wire should not have melted just because the batteries were changed. --------------- Since you have new batteries, be sure to fully charge the, prior to first use and then they must be broken in properly to obtain maximum storage capacity. Here's how:http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Batter...n_Methods.html While on that website, read everything with the word "Battery" in title. Lots of good info. |

Re: 06 Txt--dead after new battery install?
Yes, series cart.
I made a huge error and believe that I could have switched the B+ and B- when reconnecting the batteries( hooked B+ to neg batt. post) which may have caused the wire connecting the key switch and F & R switch to overheat. I have 37-38 volts for the battery group, both sides of Solenoid, and all cables at the f & r switch. Should I check the controller, or at the motor? Thanks |

First you need to get the solenoid to click. You may have fried a MS (micro switch) trace the + power source for the solenoid activation. That is usually where the failure occurs when the polarity is reversed. Hopefully your controller is okay.

Also, thank you for the welcome!
One more bit of info, I also attempted to charge the batteries after the mistake was already made, which I didn't realize at the time and when I plugged the charger in,there was small pop or click at the plug receptacle. |

That pop would be the reed switch in the receptacle ... that is the + power source for the solenoid activation.... see above diagram. unplug the small red/white wire from the back of the receptacle and reroute it so it connects directly to the battery main + terminal. If the solenoid still fails to click, continue testing along the route shown in the diagram.

Re: 06 Txt--dead after new battery install?
Ran the red wire from back of receptacle straight to positive post- nothing at all.
So the next step in the diagram is the key switch? How do you check that? |
