Default 2005 e z go reverse problem

When switching from forward to reverse, cart will only move in reverse if the accelerator is "feathered", that is, not pressed down full throtle. Once cart begins moving slowly, then accelerator can be pressed to the floor and cart will move at full speed in reverse. Only happenes when cart has been switched from forward to reverse. If in reverse, then stopped, then accelereted again without using the forward reverse switch, it runs fine in reverse. Continuity on wires checks out ok. Do I need to replace the forward reverse switch? Thanks for any help.

Is it a Series drive or PDS drive?

PDS. Now having problems with forward. Sometimes it will not move either direction. Just replaced the controller with a factory rebuilt one, because I was having identical problem. Looks like the old controller maybe was not bad after all. ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Could it be the coil on the throttle sensor? Hate to be a parts changer.

I have an aversion to randomly replacing parts also.

Just a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) and logical troubleshooting will usually find the bad part(s) and/or eliminate the good ones from the list of suspects.
And in the instances it doesn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt, at least the parts replaced won't be random guesses.

A PDS controller does everything except turning the Lights, Radio and other accessories on & off, or determining when the battery charger shuts off.

Based on the symptoms given, replacing the controller more or less eliminates everything except 5 switches (Reed, Run/Tow, Key, F/R and Pedal) and 2 coils of wire (Solenoid and ITS).

--------------
When the cart fails to move when the throttle pedal is pushed, does the solenoid click?

If it doesn't click, the most likely suspect is it the Pedal microswitch.
To test it, disconnect J4 from the controller and measure the continuity between the Red and Green wires (Pins 1 & 2).
You should have continuity every time the throttle pedal is pushed.

If the solenoid does click when the cart doesn't move, we will have to look elsewhere.

BE SURE TO PUT RUN/TOW SWITCH IN TOW WHEN EVER DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING ANYTHING ELECTRICAL.

---------------
BTW - Owner, service and parts manuals for your cart can be downloaded from the stickies.
Here is the sticky they are in.http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html

---------------

Good luck.

Thanks JB for the reply. I have jumped out the reed switch, still no go. Key switch and FNR checks ok with continuity tester. Solenoid clicks when I can get the cart moving in forward. No click, no movement. I never hear the solenoid click when in reverse, even when moving in reverse, tho obviously it is energized. I have ordered a throttle coil, hope I am on the right track. Thanks again.
