Default 09 RXV - rear running lights/brake lights

my 09 RXV has the factory light kit installed. It was done before I bought it... the tail lights work, but they don't get brighter for brake lights. the bulbs are a dual filiment bulb. Are these kits suppose to do brake lights too? I visited a dealer when shopping still and I seem to remember/think they were suppose to. Is this a missing brake module/selenoid or an unhooked wire or is that not what the kit is suppose to do? Any guess where I should look first?

Look around the brake pedal and follow it down below the floor. If there is no switch and wiring then you don't have brake lights.

Here is what the RXV brakelight switch looks like: http://www.golfcartking.com/brake-li...rxv-p-296.html

Underneath the cup holder is where the factory connections are for the harness. Take the three 10mm nuts loose under the cup holder and lift up. There should be some wire connections there but dang if I remember the colors. Should be two separate wires as part of the harness and two coming up through by themselves. I think they are gender matched..

I'll take a look tonight and see if anything is connected to brake pedal. If there is, I guess next place is to look under the cup holders and make sure everything is plugged in and firm.

I recently edited my posting to link a picture of the brake light switch. Looks like it would bolt up near the brake pedal arm.

That is the EZGO plug and play version. I am sure that there are other non EZGO brand after market switches out there.

The brake light switch should already be there. I have put the factory kits on like 20 RXVs using the basic EZ-Go harness and all of them had functioning brakes lights when done.. Don't quote me but I think the wires under the cup holder are purple and red..

I didn't have time to take cup holder deal apart. I looked under the cart and could see the piston deal, a bushing, and the return spring. I'm not sure if any of that is the brake light actuator... I don't really know exactly what I'm looking for though. I'll have to check the cup holder thing and see if maybe 1 little plug isn't connected. maybe they plugged only part of it in and the lights work so they stopped there...
I'll cross my fingers that there is still hope.

If it is a stock EZ-Go harness, not aftermarket, there are wires on there that are used for other things other than headlights/taillights. If they didn't read the instructions or didn't know, they wouldn't know to hook those wires up. Only reason I did was because my dealer told me to. There will be a relay under there as well but not sure if it was for the headlights or brake lights. There will also be a set of three fuse holders in front of the controller cover. One of those may be brake lights. Do not know.. I do not have the wiring diagram and since mine have worked, never have needed to chase it.. Good luck.
