If you had $4000 to spend on a cart
...which electric cart would you buy? I have been looking at used carts and have found a ton in this price range. This seems to be the price point where most nice newer carts fall. Therefore I can't really decide which cart is best for the money. What carts will give me the best bang for the buck? I really like the body style of the EZGO ST 2X2 sport electric. Are these good carts?

Re: If you had $4000 to spend on a cart
at $4 bills I would buy a used upgraded cart. You are going to want to mod it no matter what it comes with - even if it looks like OT's "Cart Envy", you'll want more -
I am super partial to the EZ-GO, really like the style and look better then the CC's. Figure out what you want now and try to get it all in the cart you purchase - the mods get expensive FAST - last thing you want to do is drop 4 large and then add another 3 to make it what you want. Years with these things don't mean too much (from 97 up) in my opinion as long as the cart was cared for and doesn't have resistor coils. DISCLAIMER - I am a noob - been into this for about 6 months - so take it with a grain. My .02 |

Re: If you had $4000 to spend on a cart
It all depends on whether you want an upgraded cart or not.
You can step into a dealership and buy a fairly new golf cart with solid batteries, if you're looking for stock and reliability. You can also get a stock older cart, I would go EZGO newer then 2001, then restore it from the ground up. For that money I've gone from golf course stock to street legal custom, but again I did all the work, short of paint, myself. |

Re: If you had $4000 to spend on a cart
The first thing to decide is what you want. Do you want a pretty lifted cart with big tires, do you want a performance beast, or both?
ScottyB has a pretty good writeup on his website about controller options. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Custom_Options.html I literally started with the first thread in this forum and over the course of many months, read each and every one of them. If you buy used, quiz the owner on how they charged the batteries. I bought mine used and the previous owner believed in letting the batteries run down before charging. Normally this would be a BIG red flag, but given that his trips were very short, somehow they not only survived, but thrived. I finally cashed them in on their ninth birthday! |
