Default EZGO 2012 new style controller?

Hey guys,

I have been looking at doing some upgrades on my 2012 Express S4. One upgrade I want to do is add a dcx400 controller. My only concern is what type of adapter to purchase sence this controller doesn't look like a dcs or pds style unit. Have any of y'all seen this yet?

Pics located in my albums or here: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/album.php?albumid=2548

Oh yeah! Another question. If I upgrade my controller to the 400 series, do I need to replace the motor too? Meaning, will the stock one work okay and not tear up?

Oh my Gosh!!! The new controllers are club car iq's. I just did a google pic search and was pm'ing another member who mentioned what it appeared to resemble. Ezgo has moved controller styles. Interesting! Look at my album and then "google" club car iq controllers. Exact Curtis manufacturing match.

Stock motor should be fine with a 400 Amp controller, but you can overheat it faster than with a stock controller.
Use your head rather than your foot, and you'll be okay.

As for the adapter, call Alltrax.

Here is what I believe your controller set-up is, but I might be wrong.

Called Alltrax and they seem to have a solution on what can be done. They didn't call it a PDS 2 unit but a TXT 48V controller. They don't know Curtis controllers, but the Alltrax manager says we should be able to solve this. I will start a mod thread for my Express when I purchase all the parts. For others with Expresses, this will be a helpful tool.

Interesting... I know a couple of people with Club Car Precedents that were looking to upgrade too.

I know this is an old thread but if the Express carts are using an IQ controller, would it be possible to install a speedylink on a Express L6? I believe the L6 is already a 400amp controller.

the 400 amp model is probly model 1268 and they can be programmed to to run up to 22 to 25 mph

You must change the motor to a Series motor if changing to a Series controller. A series controller would murder a sepex motor in seconds.
