Default Convert DCS to PDS (Thinking out loud)

I am wondering with the Alltrax DCX400 would it be possible or feasible to switch it to the PDS style FNR switch? I know I would need a PDS adapter from Alltrax, and would need the PDS switch, mounting plate, and wire. Is there anything else I would need?

You can simply keep the DCS drive system and convert to a PDS style toggle shifter.

If you google the site you will find the thread showing how.

Scotty, I tried to find it but I'm not seeing it. I will keep at it though.

You need the PDS F/R switch and mounting plate (the one with that also mounts a DVM battery meter if you don't already have one installed) and maybe a 1N4004 diode.

The trick is that B+ has to be sent to the Keyswitch when either F or R is selected and B+ to Pin-4 on DCX controller only when R is selected.

Hope this helps.

I see Scotty is being an oracle again.

There were two flavors of F/R switches on the DCS, one with and one without the diode. The one without used a mechanical cam with two indentations the operate a microswitch that applied B+ to the solenoid activation circuit, basically the same set up as the Series F/R switch uses.

The cam on the other one closed the NO contacts on one switch when in F and the other in R and fed the B+ from the R switch to the solenoid activation circuit through a steering diode.

The PDS F/R switch is a SPDT/center Off switch, so it needs the steering diode to activate the solenoid when R is selected.

Or use a DPDT switch which should do the same when wired correctly correct ? power to the center on both, outer two on one leg connected together for Run and single outer on the other leg for Rev

Help the Rookie out here... Why would you want to convert from DCS to PDS?

Just because

Now really. The PDS controller is a better controller than the DCS. Now, if you are upgrading to an Alltrax or the like, DCS/PDS doesn't really matter anymore other than the activation circuit being a little different.

In my case though I am going from a series cart to a sepex cart using the DCS wiring harness with a Club Car FNR switch... or at least that is the plan..
