Default Testing a charger

Can anyone tell me how to test my 36v ez go charger? I plugged it in and there was no noise or anything. I hooked up my volt meter and nothing...does it have to be connected to batteries or a load before it will read?

The charger and cart both sat in tall grass for the last 6-7 years and I want to test it before I hook it up to the new batteries.

Thanks Scotty b for the forward/reverse fix. The cart is 99% complete. Waiting for two u bolts to bolt the axle to the springs and we are off.

There is a half dozen or more EZGO 36V chargers.
Can you be more specific, or post a picture of it?

In general terms, an automatic golf cart charger has to sense the battery voltage to turn on.
For a 36V charger, it'll have to sense about 30V.

It's a Powerwise QE, model 915-3610.

I took it apart last night and cleaned everything with a brass wire brush and reassembled.

Tried it this afternoon and the red lED flashes 6 times, pauses and 6 more flashes...

Can anyone help?

Ouch!

Six red flashes is the code for an internal fault and a PW QE is non-repairable.

Go with a DPI for Portable or Quick Charge for On-board.
