Default help with controller wiring problem

I was trying to fix a wiring problem on a LIDO golf cart today. There are soooo many wires just hanging everywhere, alot of them have been cut.

Anyway, the problem started out that the headlites were very dim.

All 8 of the 6 volt batteries are charged and total pack was 50.1 volts, but headlites are very dim.

As I was tracing the wires,i found that when i turned on the key switch, i was only getting 6 volts to the fuse block. lites were very dim, no horn, no blinkers.

I ran a jumper wire from 12 volt to the fuse block, and everything worked with that 12 volt jumper in. Then i noticed a silver box in the back, that looked like a converter, it said 10 amps on it.

This silver box had a red wire( with a fuse), a black wire, and a yellow wire.
I cut into the yellow wire and it read 6 volts. So i cut the wire in half, then touched the end of the half of wire ( coming from fuse block, to the main positive battery terminal.

Large spark, large arc. Now i have 43 volts at key switch, at fuse block, and nothing works. Now the cart will not move either, when you turn the key, nothing.

i am afraid i smoked the controller. The controller is a curtis # 1264-5405 48 volt 400 amp, and it says sepex on it.

I cannot find this part number anywhere, not even on curtis' website.

Can someone tell me, did i fry the controller?

How can I check tomake sure it is the controller giving me the problem.

If i was to buy a new controller, then install it, I am afraid to try it, because i might fry it again? Do you think if i install a new one, and this time turn the tow switch to tow ( i didn't the first time) it will work?
