Hi Folks ,
First time to forum, looks like a great place to be introduced into the world of electric carts. Here is my problem ...my 2005 Freedom golf cart will stop while running. When it is running, a series of beeps will come on (many beeps) like the cart is rolling away while parked, and then the cart will lock up the brakes.... I checked the diagnostics as suggested on this site and all I got was four beeps the first time and not followed by any other beep. I looked at the troubleshooting guide on the controller cover and nothing matches my problem. All cables are clean and tight.... Any suggestions on where to start....??? Thanks, fhelfers |

Welcome to BGW
You will need to try and pull the codes. To put it into diagnostic mode. 1. Key Off 2. Leave it in "Run" mode 3. Move the F/R selector from neutral to reverse 5 times. The first set of beeps will tell you what perforamnce option you have. You have a Freedom cart so it should be 4. The second set of beeps will be the fault code. |

Thanks for the reply.
In diagnostic mode all I get is the first set of four beeps. No second set of beeps... FH |

Drive the cart until you hear the beeps, then carefully count them. The diagnostics may have already cleared for the test. Sounds like a thermal cutback, meaning either a bad controller or possibly wiring issue in the harness or motor. Is your cart lifted?

If it's lifted your controller is doing exactly what MMT said....thermal cutback, shutdown...what ever you want to call "My controller is getting hot and shutting off" LOL!

Thanks guys,
Well after cleaning all the wires again and making sure all was tight etc..I just took the cart for a run down the road. Heres what happened. As it was reaching its top speed there was a hesitation just like it had a governer on it ( like the old gas engines). This was shortly followed by two beeps and then slow down. I accelerated again and i recieved a series of beeps 6-7 ??. As I turned and started going down a short incline, I again had a series of long beeps and the brakes cut in. Any other suggestions..... thanks FH |

2 beeps or 1 beep pause and then another beep is a 1-1 or controller failure. Listen carefully to the long beeps to make sure there is not a pause in there somewhere.
