Need help identifying this...
Hey all! I'm new to the golf cart scene as I am used to building jeeps. My parents gave me their '91 36V Marathon because they wanted a new cart with air conditioning. LoL! So, I have been cleaning up the wiring and am trying to get everything back together and I have this solenoid looking thing that isn't in the schematics. It connects to a switch under the potentiometer, the motor, and to the terminal where the negative from the charging port hooks up (with a fuse on that lead which i also am not sure of the amperage for that thing, either). i don't know who my parents bought this thing off of but he did a one off/custom approach and told my dad it had two speeds??? Any help would be great.

Re: Need help identifying this...
It may be a shunt to add another battery's voltage directly to the motor bypassing the controller? I dunno?

Welcome to BGW!
It's probably a "shunt". Very destructive and should be removed. |

Thanks! A shunt you say? Never heard of anything like that. How is it destructive?
