2002 ez-go txt electric, still nothing

does this year require the small diode with the silver band for the microswitches. It has a new solenoid installed from the previous mechanic but no diode? With a new solenoid, controller, directional switches and reed switch relaced i hooked up the batterys and the reverse buzzer went off for a second and then the new reed switch fryed again. obviously some wires have been switched around! I think the only way i'm gonna get this cart going is if i have a comparison cart, i'm kind of spinning my wheels here. The wiring diagrams are pretty generic to...?
