Default EZ-GO DCS drains batteries with no accessories

I have dcs cart that has no accessories. I will charge batteries and the next day the batteries are dead. They are brand new interstate batteries. While checking where I might have a short I found with everything off in run mode, the solenoid two small post are drawing ~7 volts when key switch is off and f/r switch is in neutral. Is this normal or I am I missing something. I changed the controller to see if that had anything to do with it but I have the results. Any suggestions. Thanks

Nate

Default Re: EZ-GO DCS drains batteries with no accessories

As long as the Run/Tow switch is in Run, the controller will draw some current, but not enough to discharge the batteries in one day, or even a week or two, so something is wrong.
Also, batteries self-discharge, but only at about 1% of SoC per day, so they would still be at about 70% SoC after a month.

First, let's determine if the problem is in the cart or the battery pack, (New batteries go bad also)
Fully charge batteries. (IE: let charger turn off automatically)
Then place Run/Tow in Tow and disconnect all cables from Main Positive and Main Negative terminals on battery pack, leaving the five interconnecting cables connected.
What is the battery pack voltage and the individual battery voltages about 12 hours after charger automatically shuts off?
The battery pack should be 38.2V, each battery should be 6.37V and all six battery voltages should be within 0.1V of each other.

Wait 24more hours and measure the pack and individual voltages again.
If the pack voltage has dropped more than 0.1V, something is wrong with the battery pack.
If an individual battery voltage has dropped more than 0.01V, something is wrong with that battery.

If the batteries check out okay, let us know and we will troubleshoot the cart.
