Hi all,
My son's school has a EZ Go electric cart which I believe is a DCS. Basic Ezgo electric golf cart wiring and manuals The fwd / rev switch rotates a cam that move 2 micro switches. The cart runs forward. If you put it in reverse, the backup alarm goes on. If you press the pedal, you hear the contactor pull in but it doesn't move. I don't see a relay anywhere for switching direction but it looks like both the armature and field coils come to the contoller. Does the controller swap direction? I see voltage across P1 and P2 in FWD but not REV. Is the controller bad? thanks, Steve |

Welcome to the forum steveb48...............
The Forward/Reverse control is all that changes the direction of travel. All it does is change or reverse the polarity. If you take the F/R switch assembly apart, you will find burned contacts and burned buss bars. Clean sand or grind them back to a shiney finish, put it back together and you should be in good shape and running both directions. Always remember: When working on the electrical system, disconnect the Main Positive and Main Negative cables to the battery pack. |

Hey Rusty,
Thanks for the reply. I may have misled you. The fwd / rev lever on this one turns a cam under the seat which controls 2 micro switches. No buss bars, no contacts other than the ones in the micro switch of course. It seems that the micro switches are working as fwd works and rev turns on the backup alarm. Steve |

Ok, No problem, I thought you had large cables going to the cam assembly too. Sorry, it get hectic sometimes.

If this cart is a DCS it is imperative that you switch Run/Tow switch to TOW BEFORE doing any maintenance on the cart.
