Makes speed than slows down.
E-Z-Go TXT
The stickied diagram did not show the same settup up as mine, and the diagram I have on hand is one with diodes on the solenoid. Ours has an 8 pin connector above the solenoid, as well. Comes up to speed to then immediately drops to half speed. Voltage on motor neg reflects this; 18V. Batteries hold steady at 38V, but M- remains at 18V. If I let the throttle go it wont come back up to full speed for that second unless I let it rest for a bit. I'm thinking I need to replace the controller but I am not sure as the troubleshooting guide doesn't match my wire settup. I did reconnect a seperated wire on the motor, it was grounding out on the motor block, until I started troubleshooting. It was the small black wire that was part of a 3 wire cable going to the motor. DRIVE SYSTEM TYPE: PDS Thank you for the assistance. Last edited by Jamie Q.; 01-29-2013 at 03:41 PM.. Re: Makes speed than slows down.
Hi Jamie, It sounds like you have a PDS or DCS drive system. Is there a rocker switch in the dash for direction selection? Do you have the manufacture code?

I saw both of those terms in the Manual PDS(performance drive system) and DCS(hell if i know). The PDS steered towards off road abilities, so I didnt even bother reading that. It does have a rocker switch as well. Speed controller manfr. Curtis PMC, part # 73326G07 ser # 6081-P162458A |

The rocker on the dash is a sure sign of a PDS drive.

Re: Makes speed than slows down.
ser number says it is an 05 PDS. I would guess the wire you found was going to the speed sensor which could cause the issues you are having. Is the cart beeping at all ?

Re: Makes speed than slows down.
ty, I updated the primary post.
Any further troubleshooting advice? I'm pretty much settled on the controller being the issue as I have 38vdc going into the controller but the drop is definately on -M. I feel like its heating up and cooling down causing the top speed to return for a brief second. |

Re: Makes speed than slows down.
Found the proper section in the guide (F). I noticed a diode on the solenoid; I'm assuming it is just a sacrificial diode incase of an amp spike.

Re: Makes speed than slows down.
You need to put the cart in diagnostic mode and drive it to see what codes it is spitting out. Turn the key off then cycle the FNR switch from N to R five times, cart should beep 1 to 4 times. This number will tell you what chip is in it. Then go drive it and report back the number of beeps. should be a set then a pause and another set.

Re: Makes speed than slows down.
Yes, I did complete the diagnostic program; 2 beeps: controller
Thank you for the year description of the PDS. But..... on completing the troubleshooting guide associated with it, here are my confused results: Reached page F-11, Step 14 and Step 15. Result: 8vdc But guide says results are either 2.7+/-0.5vdc or ZERO. Followed Pre-steps to starting Step 13. |

Re: Makes speed than slows down.
What voltage are you getting at Step-13?
Also, you mentioned the voltage was dropping at M-. Where was the other meter lead attached? There are about a dozen MOSFETs connected in parallel between the B- and M- terminals on the controller, so the voltage between those two terminals will be (or at least should be) FULL battery pack voltage when the pedal is pushed just far enough for the solenoid to click and will be Zero or close to it when the pedal is fully depressed. However, a PDS controller limits the motor RPM, so the voltage will be greater than Zero if the RPM is being limited. |
