Default Battery/ Grounding question

I purchased a voltage reducer since i'm going to go 48v to run my lights, ipod amp etc. My fuse block is hot only, no neg bus so I will be grounding to my batteries. No my question is do I ground to the#6 battery or does it matter which one I ground to?
Also in looking at the Trojan website they offer a dual wingnut post which would be great for my situation. do most dealers have this or would be it be a special order and how long would it take. I know it would basically be specific to the dealer but have any of you guys used this?

Thanks

You question depends on your reducer. Mine has +48 volts in, + 12 volts out, and -48 volts in, which is also used as -12 volts out. Use the +12 volts out on your fuse block, and -12volts out to connect to the "ground" or "-" of all of your accessories. Note that this may be different depending on your reducer.

What you were referring to as "ground" is not to be connected to any part of the buggy frame, unlike in a car.

the -48v in = -12v out part is whats tripping me. The directions show grounding from #6 battery post and also to cart ( which I know NOT to do ) I guess I'll take all neg. wires to battery post

I'd use a "Ground" distribution block instead of having multiple "ground" wires connected to B- on #6 battery.

Also, when stacking the ring terminals on the battery studs, the heavy gauge high current cables go on first.

So does it really matter which battery you run the grounds to? Should it be the same battery as you are connecting your positive that is going to the fuse block?

It makes a lot of difference!!!!! Big time sparks type of difference.

Connect the 12V "Ground" to the same battery terminal that you connect the 48V to 12V converter "Ground" to.

In your case:
The most positive terminal of the battery pack should have three wires attached.
1. High current cable to solenoid.
2. Positive Cable from charge receptacle.
3. Positive wire to 48V/12V converter

The most negative terminal of the battery pack should have four wires attached.
1. High current cable to controller.
2. Negative cable to charge receptacle.
3. Negative wire to 48V/12V converter.
4. Negative wire(s) to 12V accessories.

All the other terminals on the batteries in the 48V battery pack should only have a high current cable attached.

I would hook it up just like JohnnieB said. Cuts down on wires going to the battery and makes a much cleaner and easier install. Only way to go.
