Have a chance to get a ezgo carryall ( has a 4x4 bed on back with long roof that covers it ) , in the bed is a set of 'new' batteries . The fellow that has it now got it this way , also has a set of new cables , the batteries have been on the cart so long that the paper lables are beginning to come off of them , but have never been installed ,question is can a 'new ' battery go bad from non use ?

When you say "non-use" do you mean several months, years? A few weeks to a few months is probly ok but the longer it sets the more likely. Batteries should be charged every few months at least to keep them in good condition..

The man that has it now has had it for almost a year , and the batteries were on the bed when he picked it up , I would have to guess they have been there for 2 years or more . It's too far to go just to look at the top of the battery to see the year , and he don't have a clue as to the age of yhem .

Maybe he can check them with a voltmeter for you. It sounds like they have sat too long....
