western cart need front suspension help
I have a western Elegante cart, 42 volt, model 100, not sure of year. I can't decipher it.
When I drive the front end feels squirrely. I removed the wheels to see what I could find. I am a amature at this. I notice the large part on both sides, that the wheelhub mounts to, will lift up and down about 1/8 inch, on both sides. I looked at an ezgo diagram, and the bolt is called a King pin. This king pin, has a washer, then it goes thru the frame, then another washer ( called a thrust washer?), then thru a large tube, then thru the frame, washer, nut, cotter pin. All parts are there. Is it common for this assembly to be able to move up and down within that frame section? It is a slight gap, but i can move it up and down, on both sides. I tried tightening it up with an air impact, but it won't tighten anymore than it is. I was wondering if this thrust washer was suppose to be concaved, so it might provide some sort of "tension'? The thrust washer is completly flat, like a normal washer. I am grasping here. The wheels don't have any play when i try moving them from topto bottom or from side to side, so I don't think it is a wheel bearing issue. Also, the cart will pull to the left when driving and letting go of the wheel. Help? |
