Default Pargo battery HELP!!

HI I just got a 1975 Pargo 36v electric cart. The cart has been converted to three 12v Exide 31 batteries instead of the six 6 volt batteries. The problem is I drove it for the first time and it slowed way down in 5 min. is this because of the type off battery? I read that the 12v ones wont last as long but shouldn’t it be longer than 5 min.

Exide does not make a 12 cart battery, so yes I would say that is your problem. It would seem though a group 31 battery in "good condition" should propel your cart longer than 5 minutes.

The reason it doesn't run for more than 5 minutes is the batteries. Those batteries are not true deep cycle batteries. They are a hybrid, a cross between a starting/deep cycle battery. Change the batteries to the the right ones and your run time will increase.
