Re: top speed of the RXV
No chips. Speed is set with a hand held programer. Local dealer here sets them at 19.6 mph which is the max legal limit. Above 20 is a LSV. I don't know where 19.6 comes from but that is what they claim to set the Club Cars and Yammies at also.
Here's the deal with the RXV's. Once the cart is rolling acceleration is brisk. Feels like a car with a turbo. They out accelerate anything else around here and when you get to a hill they don't slow down---at all. Fast and powerful -- impressive. Local dealer puts 14' wheels with 205/30 tires. Diameter is about 22". No lift required. Claims 27mph so equipped. I'm sceptical but 23-25 I would believe. Draw backs for me: 12v batteries--expensive and short life span compared to 8v or 6v. CC gave up on the 12s about 2008 but EZGO sticks with them for some reason. However, conversion to 6x8v is not difficult or expensive I think. I have seen factory refurbished 09s with 6x8v in them. No conventional wheel brakes. It has some sort of mystical electronic brake. I don't understand it so it makes me suspicious. There are a couple of threads on this forum about cronic problems and even lawsuits. However, they are increasing in number around here and I have yet to see one broken down on the cart paths. Not user friendly for repair or upgrades. Limited aftermarket accessories. |

Re: top speed of the RXV
I get my RXV up to 27 mph with 23" tires with 4 people on. I also have converted mine over to 6 8 volt batteries and added an inverter and fuse panel. Like said before no chips just programming is available.

Re: top speed of the RXV
Rxv can be had straight off the assembly line with 6x 8v batteries, just have to "check that box" when it's ordered. We have not gotten a new 12v equipped rxv in years.

Re: top speed of the RXV
25 is about as fast as I want to go in a cart. Just be careful if you have 2 bid dudes on the back. The weight being off can make it a little squirrelly. That being said, I'm amazed at what mine can do compared to other carts. I keep telling people to get RXVs. They get something else, and then later end up wanting to upgrade their controllers or motors for more speed/power.

Re: top speed of the RXV
I originally programmed my 2012.5 RXV for 27-29 MPH with stock tires. I decided to reprogram it for 25 MPH before I totalled it. The RXV Shuttle 2+2 that I now have, I programmed it for Freedom Mode and set it to the max speed of 19.6 MPH. I'm not too keen on pushing my luck with it. No mechanical brakes.
The RXV based road car that I am building has all new suspension and disc brakes. It will be programmed for a 45 to 50 MPH top speed. With bumpers, crumple zones, and a full roll cage, it will be safer than an RXV. It is essentially a Bandolero class race car on an RXV frame. I initially wanted the looks of a Thunder Roadster, sorta looks like an older Indy racer. After comparing the drag co-efficient of the Roadster to the Bandolero, I chose the much lower drag of the Bandolero. Bob |
