Default Used Buggies

Hey folks, greetings to all. I am to the buggy thing and the forum. I have an opportunity to pick up 3 "used" buggies at auction. I may be buying 3 pigs in a poke but the pictures I have been sent show some fair to good looking specimens despite the descriptions showing the units in poor condition. If I am the "lucky" winner (I am bidding well under $1500 for all 3), other than batteries, what are other most likey problems I can look forward to experiencing. If I really made a huge mistake I plan to part 'em out and practice my painting technique in a effort to recover my investment. Thanks guys, gals, and anyone that does not fall into those catagories...

Well if they are electrical powered:
1. Bad controllers or ressistor coils
2. Bad F/R switches.
3. Bad or missing wiring
4. Bad sylnoid, micro switches, key switch
5. In short anything electrical.
6. Battery tray rotted to the point of being AWOL.
7. Worn suspension bushing and other various parts.

If they are gas powered:
1. 3,5,6,7 above
2. Gas engine shot

But these smarter than average experts on here can tell you more.

Hey Roger,

I imagine any one good with a volt-ohm meter and basic electric knowledge (I am a network engineer ) should be able to determine any of the first 4 which sound low budget...and with some additional sweat equity trace out the general wiring probs.

Well you said the magic words...any one good with a volt-ohm meter and basic electric knowledge ...which leaves me out in the cold. All I know about electricity is that it takes two battries to make a flashlight work, and if it is electrical it will cost me more cash! LOL
