Looks like I'll be picking up another cart today for a project. It's a 98 EZGO DCS (I think). I have seen 2 pictures of it so far. The batteries are completely shot - but the price is right.

I have a friend that wants a golf cart for his family to cruise around on.... so far, this is what he told me he wants:

Speeds near 30
Lifted
Nice Wheels
Back Seat
Head light / brake lights / turn signals
Body painted

I'm going to talk to him about the 30 part - I may try to steer him towards the EMP motors just to stay 36 volts. His total budget is around $4K.

I think this could be fun.

I will post pictures as I get them through this built thread.

Looks like I have a fleet cart - it's a 99 with the f/r below the seat....but no run/tow switch.

What options are there to make this thing faster and keep it at 36 volts? Can someone give me the quick crash course on these carts?

I converted my first DCS cart to a fleet configuration, basically because when I bought it, everything under the seat was shot.
I did a 4" lift, 425 Amp controller, 4GA wiring, EMP 2-speed, 22" tires, HD FnR switch.... that got me to 28MPH in speed mode, 22 in torque mode.

I would bump it up to 48 volts personally if it needs new batteries. Basically fix it up like yours. Since I dont know the price of the cart, I dont know if thats over budget or not.

Bought the cart for $500. It's already sold to a friend that wants it lifted, etc...

Is there a controller on this as well? Is there any advantage to a fleet versus PDS, DCS?

You could convert to 48 volts with a D&D motor, Alltrax controller, 6" lift, nice wheels and tires and all his other accessories for under $4000 I would think. I dont know if you are going to charge him for your time either. You might could get a little money back on the stock motor and controller and 36 volt charger if you wanted to buy a 48 volt charger. I may be wrong but Im pretty sure you could do it for his budget.

I just got off the phone with emp - again.... really nice guys.

It seems as though 25mph with 36volts and a stock controller is more than possible.

I've got to run the financials on this one... The customer is actually a friend of a friend as well - so I probably won't be making any money... just passing my direct costs through. I like what I do.....
