Default 1989 EZGO batt and wiring problems......

okay i bought a 89 ezgo elecctric golf cart for 50 bucks. i had to replace the batts i replaced them with 3 12 volts. i also had to buy a new resistor assembly. the people i bought it from had burnt up the old one. i got a new ignition also because they were using a MASTER lock key for it. now after i got everything and installed it all i can not get it to turn off. its like the ignition isn't even hooked up. it looks like all the wires are hooked where they are suppose to be, by what the diagrams show that i have seen. i believe since it does "turn off" the resistor thingy gets REALLY HOTT and the wires leading from the batt to the motor get hott as well. this already ran one of the batts down but i was able to get it able to charge back up. i am using a regualr batt charger/starter. all the charger stuff has been tore up by pervious owners. i decided i would take the wire from the motor part that hooks up to the neg batt and pass it through the ignition switch so i could turn it off and on and not run the batts down. the wires still get to hott and melt my electrical tape what can i do to get the ignition back to working the way it should work? any ideas???

go into the ezgo elictric section and find the wiring diagram. ignition switch connects to microswitch on fnr and to the solenoid on mine.
Sounds like your wiper board may be making contact when it shouldnt.
