Smile 92 Electric EZ-Go Short

I have traced the wiring on this cart and can't find the problem. First I thought it was a solenoid. When you touch the accelerator and the micro switch opens I get a dead short and it smokes the wiring from the forward reverse switch and destroys the switch on the accelerator potentiometer. I checked voltages all the way back to solenoid and had 37 volts but when I put the orange wire on the solenoid it smoked and blew the diode and destroyed the micro switch again. I unhooked the motor and jumped it and it runs fine cleaned the forward reverse switch.Could this be the solid state controller causing this? Thanks Tony

Welcome to BGW

Very unlikely the controller is causing this problem. More likey a wire is crossed or shorted out somewhere. Find the correct wiring diagram and make sure everything is wired properly before anything else.

I have gone thru this wiring several time and all looks as the schematic. It only shorts when the micro switch m3 makes contact and sends power to the contactor

There is no way for that to happen UNLESS the activation coil in the solenoid is shorted out OR you have something connected wrong. Take a look at this diagram and see if you can find something wrong with yours. Its a basic, less confusing diagram than the ones in the manuals.
