Wiring in a turn signal/flasher/brake switch.
The cart is running. The front and rear lights have been installed and work fine. Now I need to add a turn signal switch with flasher, and a brake light switch. Seemed simple enough but I think I'm missing some parts. Here's what the golf cart shop sold me.
Turn signal switch - 4-wire - blue, green, yellow, red - says Everlasting on the switch, No diagram in the box. LED tail lights with three wires - red, black, white Front "parking" lights - 2-wire - white and black Can't find any thing Google-ing. I think I need a flasher and a "blinker" module to go with the switch, but what I really need is a diagram showing all the pieces and which wires go where from the switch. Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks, Greg |

Yes you would need a flasher. Call the guy who sold you the stuff and ask him how it is suppose to work = LOL If you have never wired something like this before you will need to find a diagram and a helper who has more experience...IMHO This is not simple unless you have done it before

Re: Wiring in a turn signal/flasher/brake switch.
send it back to where you bought it from and buy everything from buggies unlimited. they have sent instructions with everything that i have bought from them. to install brake lights, you will need a stop light swith for a 1949 chevy truck. i installed new lights, wiring harness, turn signals, and brake lights this past weekend. even with instructions, have a cold one or twelve available and have plenty of patience, you will need both.

Thanks. The cart has been rewired for everything but I think the LED tail lights and the 4-wire turn signal are the problems now. Front turn signal works fine. I think I blew the LED tail lights so I'm going to go with the standard bulb lights. It's a learning experience and my wife is very patient.

Re: Wiring in a turn signal/flasher/brake switch.
Update. Redid the light's wiring connections. Ran the neutral wires to a bus block. Ran the power wires to a second bus block. Ran a common neutral from the neutral bus block to the first battery's negative post. Ran a common power source from the power wire's bus block through the light switch (fused) to the second battery's positive post. Ran new neutral wires from the front turn signal lights to the common grounding bus block. Ran new power wires from the front turn signal lights and the LED rear light blinker/brake lead to a terminal block. Ran new wire from the turn signal load wire to the flasher, and new wires from the turn signal to the respective terminal block where the turn signal wires were located. Ran a power and ground wire from the first two battery's pos/neg posts to the flasher. And they work! The only thing I can't figure out is the blue wire on the turn signal. I think it's for the turn signal indicator lights. Those don't work while the lights and flashers do. It's a four wire turn signal unit from Everlasting and I can't find any reference to a four wire--only eight wire. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Next up is the brake switch.
Note: Took my wife for a ride in the cart to visit neighbors and she wanted to keep going around the island, so I think she likes it. |
