I don't see why not. The reed switch is only there to keep morons (like me) from driving off with the gas pump's nozzle still in the filler tube, so to speak.

Or you could fix the old charger.

The transformer is the one part in those old monsters that isn't cost effective to replace.

I don't remember of every posing for a picture with my tinfoil hat on, so I don't think that is me in the avatar, but there is a remarkable resemblance to me in pictures taken during my younger years and I was known to have tipped a few back then, so most anything is possible.

Should work fine! You are charging a battery pack that is virtually the same for either cart. I did notice that my old Total Charge ( green face ) has a bit higher final voltage output than the Lestronic II that I'm presently now using. The Total Charge doesn't seem to have a voltage cutoff point, just what time you have set on the dial. Either one charges the batteries fine, It's just more convenient for me to carry the much lighter Lestronic II to the cart!

Instead of spending money on a new charge receptacle, why not move the charger plug to the new charger?

cause the chargers work on the other 2 carts in the group so if i put a new receptacle on old cart i can use 1 of the 2 working chargers to charge it and rotate charges on the 3 carts
