Am helping a buddy with his EZ-Go cart; he read the S.N. as 83778, the Manufacturer's Number as 62494. Am I right in thinking that it's a 1994 model year? It has a controller, hidden under a cover, on the passenger's side. The F/R switch is directly adjacent, and is operated by a rod that connects to the lever next to the driver's knee.

His charger is a Total Charge III, seems to be a fully-automatic job, no external timer control, etc. The charger receptacle on the cart has 2 light-guage wires that are not connected, I think those are for a "control circuit disable" to prevent driving away when the charger is plugged in..??

Can anyone tell me if it's a TXT, RXT, WBD, Marathon, Shell, Sunoco, or what? Is there a chart or list anyplace that shows the different EZ-Go models and their characteristics? How about chargers? Seems like such a chart(s) would go a long way towards answering questions before they're asked.

The description of thje F/R switch tells me it is a series cart, meaning it has a series wound motor.
Marathon, Medalist and TXT are body styles.
If it is a '94. it is most likely a Medalist or TXT.
If the body is metal, it's probably a Medalist.
If it plastic, it's probably a TXT.

The TC-III is a ferroresonant transformer design automatic charger.
It is a decent charger and is 100% repairable.

Two small gauge wire coming out of the cart's charge receptacle doesn't sound right.
Should be two heavy gauge (about 10Ga) that are part of the charging loop and one light gauge (about 18ga) that comes from the Reed Switch and does disable cart when charger plug is inserted into the receptacle.

Thanks so much for the tips and the link! The SN wasn't found, I suspect that either my buddy read it wrong or I copied it down wrong. Will check back with him to be sure.

My own cart happens to be a 1979 C.C., and I frankly find the models of those to be just as confusing. Again, a chart(s) would be very helpful in getting someone like me up to speed.

Where it would really help is when someone is purchasing a used cart. For instance, had I known better, I'd have not bought my cart, as it has hydraulic brakes that were quite expensive to repair. Hopefully, I won't have to do it again anytime soon (ever?) and they will hopefully be more effective than the brakes in my old Legend.
