Stock PDS blown, after upgraded motor installed, Ordering Scottyb's combo..
So a friend of mine purchased a 2003 EZGO PDS, it came with aftermarket 10" wheels and street tires. No rearseat. He got the typical 17 - 18 mph out of it with decent run time. He wanted a little more speed so we pulled his stock motor off and sent it to Plum Quick to be upgraded as a Bandit.
Today we reinstalled the PQ motor, hooked up all of the cables (correctly, as we double checked everything). Flipped the TOW/RUN to RUN, turned the key switch to ON and poof! The controller completely smoked. So could the motor have caused the controller to blow? Could there be a short in the motor? He is prepared to order an Alltrax DCX400PDS tomorrow from Scottyb, as he was prepared to "HAVE" to order one soon any way; just not this soon. I REALLY do not want to put that new controller in and have it smoke too if there was a short in the motor. I physically inspected all of the cables afterwards and there are no shorts in them. They are 4ga cables, as are all of the battery cables. |

Well I just got off the phone with Robbie at PQ and he gave me some diagnostics tips. I will be completing them tomorrow to test to make sure the motor is not shorted.

I'm guessing that he figured out that it was not a PQ problem.
