plantman................

My 96 txt pictured here has 12 inch wheels and 23 inch tires, stock motor and stock controller. It is great as long as I use it on flat dry ground and pavement, in which I do however if I were to use it off roading, or work it hard, as roady said I would have to upgrade everything he said.

If you are easy with it, it will be fine. If you work it hard, it's gonna give up on you at some point due to overheating.

Otherwise, I am very pleased with the performance of my 96 txt and I understand its limitations.

Just my 2 cents.

Inclines as you mentioned will not be a problem. If you were going up a mountain for long periods of time is where you will find trouble.

I went with the All Sports 5 inch lift and that allowed me to use the 23 inch all trails tire on 12 inch wheels. It's a great combo. And the lift is american made, not china.

if you dont want to gey bogged down when your going up those inclines, you could just go with high torque gears in the rearend. its alot cheaper than a motor and controler, and for what you said it should work great. i just went with the Buggies Unlimited 4" economy lift, and i abuse mine alot. but just for some small trail rideing, if you dont mind a little bumpy-ness the one i said will work great, but if you want it really smooth, i would say to go with this one, it should make it somewhat smoother:

and as far as wheels and tires, its mostly personal choice

i went with some knobby ones for the mudd. but sence you shouldnt see much of that, go with some-what agressive tread for off road, but not too much for when your on the road
