1990(?) Ez-Go marathon.
People, people. I need some guidance here. I bought a neglected, parked but fairly straight bodied Ez-Go with just the rubber or plastic nose part torn where they backed into it while it was parked and the mandatory battery box rust. The owner said the usual line," it was running when we stopped running it because it needed batteries". Quite the oxymoron, how can it be running when you stopped running it? Let's leave that one be.
What my question is, the info plate reads;serial number--586661 and the Mfg. Code reads-- 02990. If I am translating this correctly this is a 1990 Marathon 36 volt solid state controller cart? The question or maybe my ignorance is this. A few years ago I had a 1990 3 wheeler that was a 36 volt resistor cart and now this one has a big black box sitting where the resistor banks were on the other 1990 cart I had. Did they make both in 1990? Was the solid state one special order or something or did they make a resistor version for selling cheaper or some reason? I bought it for slightly above scrap price $300.00 and would like to return it to life. Anybody point me towards the service information books. My dealings with Ez-Go is mostly resistor coil carts. I know this info is on this site, I just haven't been able to dig much up yet. Are these carts much good or do they have their own set of personal flaws and problems. Nothing looks to be modified or anything out of the ordinary looking at the 1993 one sitting near it. |
