Default Replace just one battery?

Hello,
I have heard different opinions on battery replacement. One person says to replace all six, another says to replace at least three at a time.
I have one battery that fails a load test, and the other five pass.

if pack is older replace them all (others are going to fail too)
if not able to replace pack (cost) then one is ok to replace for now.. used or re-manufactured will do but save up for pack asap
never herd the "replace three"

Of coarse the ideal option is to replace all if the batteries are older. If batteries are newer than I would replace the 1 but would want to figure out what happened to the battery. Do you single out batteries to run accessories or anything like that?

As others have said try not to put a new battery into an old pack, if you must, realize that the new battery will equal the old batteries in about 6 months of regular use and recharging. One used battery of equal condition would be the next best thing to a new pack.

I do not run any accessories at all. I'm leaning towards replacing them all, but am not certain how old these are. I posted a separate thread and received one reply, and they say he batteries are 2007.

If that's the case I'm gonna bite the bullet and just replace all of them...

2007 batteries and 1 is dead I would do as you said and just buy a new pack. If you have not read the thread about battery break in when you do replace the batteries. While you are there I would replace all the wires not just the battery cables but also the ones going to the controller and the motor. Cables have a life expectancy as well as batteries.

I would have to disagree. Well maintained cables will last quite a while.

I'll have to disagree with the disagreement.

Properly built cables that are well maintained last quite a while.

The ones that have the conductors exposed to the acid laden air in the battery compartment don't last longer than a set of batteries, no matter how well they are maintained.

Cables with close end lugs and the air gap between lugs and insulation is sealed air tight, will probably outlast three or four sets of batteries, if well maintained.

Just an FYI for KY81538. You get a lot of advice on this website which is a good thing. When it comes to batteries or anything along that line I really pay attention to what JohnnieB has to say. I don't know him besides on here but he has a vast vast knowledge on this kind of thing, he might be obsessed with it in a good way, no offense. Just in case you have not already figured that out.
