1993 Marathon - overall parts, repair, etc
I am wanting to buy a cart but did not want to dump 3-4K in it, but be able to upgrade as I go. I located a 1993 Marathon (electric) that looks like it is in really good condition. head/tail lights, mirror, back passenger seats, new forward/reverse switch, 36 volt. Owner says batteries are good too. he is asking $1,400....ANY thoughts here?
iI was really hoping to find a good cart I could add to and make it what I wanted. I was a little apprehensive because of posts I saw about not being able to find parts, upgraded parts (lift kits), repair items, etc. I just thought this was a good deal but didn't want to purchase something that I could not easily make alterations / customizations. Any suggestions would be great. |

Re: 1993 Marathon - overall parts, repair, etc
I bought my marathon for 1300... over priced according to everyone here. But mine was bone stock and garage kept it's whole life. So it was in great condition. I havent had any problems finding parts for it though. Used parts may be hard to come by. But new ones for modifications are readily available.

Slugger....not knowinjg how it was kept all its life....do yourself a favoir and remember to actually crawl under it....lok for hidden rust/corrosion that is lurking that you can't see. look at every knock and cranny of the cart. As far as the batteries go, unless the date/year stickers were filled out when new and are still on the batteries, you truely won't know their age.....and depending on how they "look" and cared for, they may be ok, but I wouldn't bank on it.
oh and BTW....... Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy. oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!! |
