Default 48v ezgo needs more speed!

Ok have a converted to 48v series cart, Scottys 700 amp conversion, big cables h.d. fnr switch, w 8 6volt trojans, 23" tires. would like a few more mph.
Thinking about gearing, whats this stock gearing 12-1? How about putting the 8-1 gears in it?????

How expensive? how difficult?

better than changing the motor???????

I know where you are going with this yurtle ....its time for the RAPTOR! Shawn, It's the motor that yurtle and I have. I am only running 36V And 500A but the rest is pretty much the same as you and my cart will run 27 MPH.

Shawn.
I have a 95 Medalist 36V and a motor replacement was just to costly for me, now. So I had it cleaned and rebrushed. The shop said it was nasty.

With all the money and time you have spent already, why not upgrade your motor first?

On a side note: is that your car (57 Chevy I think) in the Avatar?

WELL since its stock.....and origanlly it was a 36V cart.....it most likely has a motor rated at roughly 2700 RPM.....and origanlly it would have run about 11 to 12 MPH.....now after your upgrade to 48V, its should be in the neighborhood of about 14 to 16 mph.

both yurtle and I both are running the AMD 7126 Raptor motor, rated at 5330 rpm. As I mentioned before, ABOUT the only difference between your cart and mine is your controller, I am running a 500A and you have a 700A.....before I put in the new motor my cart would still rin about 11 or 12 MPH.....with this motor......27 mph. and YES it WILL work with 48V, and will get you about another 30%.....that would put you in the ball park of about 35 MPH. hope you have good brakes!!! time to get a set if Disc Brakes!!!

Here is where I got my motor.....not only was it the cheapest I could find it, they have great costomer service.

Yeah that motor deal makes sense, spending money all over and leaving the factory motor (which may be suspect condition).
I'll look into a motor swap.
The 700 amp deal was the cart was based for pulling my race car, the 57, also used the 48v battery pack to start the car using a blower mount starter
