Default Batteries, Good? Bad?

I have a 1985 resistor cart the batteries show right at 6volts and I have not charged them yet. I dont know if the guy that had it before me charged them or not. I just got this cart a about a week ago and i am trying to get it going again. It did not run or do anything. It was free so I didnt really care. I dont know anything about batteries so any info is allways apreciated.

Right at 6 volts mean they are dead. Fully charged, good batteries will be at 6.33 volts I believe.

good batts should read 6.5 or better after a charge so you need to charge them than take voltage readings................how old are they and water level in them things like that............................

I dont know how old they are. The water level is good in all of them. Before i took all of them out of the cart, I tested the motor with three of them. I did the jumper wire thing and the motor took off with ease. Like i said earlier I did not charge them and I dont know when they were charged last. Thanks for the reply.
