Default How to install DC-DC converter on RXV

I just bought the 608788 DC-DC converter kit for my 2009 RXV. Trying to wire it up. Instructions say to Attach orange wire from DC-DC harness to solenoid (make sure to connect this wire opposite of solenoid connection to battery). Not sure which of the 4 terminals I should connect to.

I think they mean #2 but then the DC to DC converter will only work when the solonoid is engaged. Not what you want I wouldn't think.

Well, there are three leads coming from the DC-DC converter (red, black, orange). Red & black are connected to the battery terminals for 48V. Maybe the orange is for ground?

nope......the orange wire is for an "activation" curcit in the converter....., you want the orange wire connected to a LIVE (+) wire that in only HOT when your cart is ON. This way you only have power to the converter when the carts key is turned ON. otherwise your converter will be ON all the time, whether its being used or not.

Sir Nuke - Thanks! I guess I could technically connect to terminals 1, 2 or 4 then. But, I'll connect to terminal 2 and be happy.

It would be very easy to use a DVM to figure out which connections are HOT and which ones aren't when the key is turned on and off......and you want it to be powered up when the key is ON, not all time, and not just want to throttle is pushed as well.

The orange wire goes to two (opposite the hot battery connection.) I just did one of these myself.

Does everyone agree that this is the best way to wire a converter on the RXV? Trying NOT to fry anything.

http://www.cartsunlimited.net/DC_Reducer.html

Is it this reducer? I'm looking at the purchase as well and wondering about what model you are installing (for comparison) I have a 2010 RXV.

Looking at this diagram one would come off the whole pack then run a wire to the key switch on the dc side (which we've established on a previous post to be at the soc terminal under the hood).

Ezgo intends for the orange wire to be on the terminal you identified as "#2". I am positive of this, i have installed many. Also, dont be too suprised if you get a spark when you hook the batts back up, it is the converter being energized. If you have a "precharge" resistor (~250 ohm, 5 watt), use that as you make the connection to eliminate the sparking.
