Danger!! Runaway rxv...NO BRAKES !!
Posting this for a friend... RXV He stopped to talk to a friend at the top of a hill ( had only drove 1000ft before the incident ) with switch in forward he had foot on brake...suddenly cart started jerking forward...brake pedal went to the floor...cart started rolling down the grade..no way to stop it...no response from brake pedal...it gained speed...he tried moving switch to reverse...no response..he started weaving from right to left to try to slow it down with the gravel at side of road.. finally got it stopped after narrowly missing several cars...towed it to the place he purchased...they said never heard of it happening before.!! My 08 rxv is equipped with a 13 to 1 gear and runs 34 mph...I'm leary of driving it cuz folks if the brake quits working, there is no other way to stop this cart...MAJOR factory defect and cause for much concern !!! Comments and advice appreciated and yes you may email me direct jjcartman7@charter.net |

Re: Danger!! Runaway rxv...NO BRAKES !!
I have heard/read several incidents like this. Nothing new with the RXV.
the older bad boy buggies do this too. |

From what I've read here RXV brakes always fail on, locking up the tires. Never heard of one failing off.

Re: Danger!! Runaway rxv...NO BRAKES !!
I have a current thread here too with my 09 RXV. It has no brakes. Pedal doesn't respond and the e-brake doesn't engage. Right now my best guess is the starter solenoid is locked in the open position instead of the closed position. On mine, when I turn on the key, an intermittent beeping sound goes. neither pedal works and cart rolls VERY easy.

Re: Danger!! Runaway rxv...NO BRAKES !!
I called my local EZGO dealer. he thought it is the motor brake. I have first generation with the big arm on it. He said they fail a lot. but they fail and lock up the tires. If that is my problem, then mine has failed in the open position... I have an extra one and will swap out the part and see if that fixes it.

Re: Danger!! Runaway rxv...NO BRAKES !!
I should hit mine with a rubber hammer... see if that unsticks it... who knows. I'm a rookie here so am not sure about these things. If I think it is broken anyway, might as well bash it a couple times.
