Default What's the chance of this happening?

My daughter & I were riding the buggy today in the woods when suddenly I lost all power. If you've seen my original thread on here, when I installed my upgraded controller/solenoid, I was having trouble with connections in the main connector at the controller, so naturally thought that was the culprit again. We were about a mile from the house, so my daughter walked back to the house & got my Kawasaki Mule so we could tow it back to the house. I've got a metal bed on the cart, & had to relocate the Alltrax to a bracket over the motor in order to make room for one of the extra batteries, so it is a PITA to access the controller/solenoid.......major mistake on my part, but it was the only place I could think of that had enough room for the Alltrax. Anyhow......when I finally got the top & bed off, the first thing I noticed was one of the little white wires that activates the solenoid had pulled out of the solder on the solenoid. What's the chance of that happening?! Almost as unbelievable is the fact that I noticed it immediately, without troubleshooting for hours!!! LOL! I took a picture of the wire before I soldered it back in place. It wasn't broken off.....it had pulled out of the solder. I didn't have to strip it before soldering....it had about 1/8" of naked wire, and I could see the indentation in the solder on the solenoid where it came from. Quick & easy fix, but sorta blew my mind how it happened!

it came a part because you have a Kawasaki Mule and it felt neglected

It's also possible that it had some rough handling between fabrication, shipping, and installation. Not blaming, just sayin'

Crash, the Mule is the one that should feel neglected......it sits idle most of the time since I got the buggy going!

No doubt! I have no doubt that I'm probably the guilty party......I just found it odd!

Exactly! I cuss the fact that I have to take the bed/top off to remove the access panel to get at the controller/solenoid.......but where it's mounted made the loose wire very obvious as soon as I pulled the panel off. If I'd had my butane solder tool with me, I could have made the fix right where it died. Guess I need to add that to my list for an "offroad emergency" bag!

Solder isn't what it used to be! I wonder if there's any chance that the connection got hot and let the wire come off? That lead being an actuator, it shouldn't have gotten anywhere near hot enough to melt a solder joint! Maybe that solenoid says " China " on it!!!

Most everything we have now has "China" on it, doesn't it?!

This is one of ScottieB's HD 400/1000 amp units. Not sure where they're manufactured. It has performed flawlessly up to this point......

It was a cold solder joint. Poor technique by whoever made the connection.
