36v ezgo motor rebuild
Ok so I have a 1994.5 ezgo electric 36v. It runs fine but with the age would it be worth having it redone with new brushes, bearings and armatures for 75 bucks?
Seems to run smooth and I already have upgraded the cables, and have synthetic oil in the rearend and have 40psi in by 12" tires. It goes 15mph with just me on it on flat land. Just looking for some cheap speed. Thoughts?? |

Re: 36v ezgo motor rebuild
Sounds like you have a series cart (series wound motor). If so, "Speed" and "Cheap" are mutually exclusive.
$75 for a motor rebuild is reasonable, but it probably won't increase the speed unless the motor is sick. 12" must be the rim diameter. It is tire height that changes speed. Upping the battery pack voltage will increase both speed and torque (You also have to change controller, solenoid and battery charger) Taller tires will increase speed, but will reduce torque High speed gears in the rear end will also increase speed and reduce torque. A high speed motor will also increase speed and reduce torque. |

Well got the motor back today. Sent in two weeks ago, they said three days to rebuild once the received it. Took 6 days to finish, no big deal, guess they are just busy.
Anyway, couldn't be happier for the money. I was running 15mph before and now I'm topping out @ 20. Takes a while to get there but well worth $225 plus shipping. Wish I had more torque but the cart is a 1994, so it is what it is. Everything else is stock except for cables. I would recommend PQ for sure. Re: 36v ezgo motor rebuild
I have a host of cosmetic fixes to do first but I think this is my next big upgrade. Sounds like a great boost in speed even without a controller upgrade.
