Jakes Front Disc brake help
Fella's - I ordered the ausco rear disks but was shipped the Jake's hydraulic front discs.
First of all - should I keep these or get the Ausco's Secondly - can I mount these Jake's on the rear? Stupid ? maybe as they are called Front Brake Kit Third - if have to go on front, what do I do with rear drums? I don't want to put them on as they lock up and don't allow driver side rear to spin, but seems I need them to place rims and tires back on.... what to do? ?! ? |

Re: Jakes Front Disc brake help
well first off....the rears and fronts are not interchangable..... AND you are required to have at least 10" wheels so that the rotors will clear.
NOW, can you run Disc's on the front and drums on the rear?? YES, it was and has been done for many years on cars/trucks. as far as your current drums.....and their condition, it seems by your discription, you need to either do a brake job or at least do some good cleaning and adjustment so that they work correctly. |

Re: Jakes Front Disc brake help
Thanks Nuke. Ran home (couldn't wait) to take a look. Placing them on front is a definite no go - not gon happen.
I have 12" rims, so no issue there - but 1 out of 3 doesn't work in this case... they sent for a non lifted cart.. and my rears NEED to be changed. I had ordered the Ausco's but was shipped the Jake's so figured if I could keep the better product and make it work.... but no go. Gonna have to return them. FWIW - the install on the Jake's seems VERY lengthy and made for a true mechanic |
