Default Controller upgrade - tutorial?

Is there a tutorial on switching out the controller?

We have a '99 36V DCS with stock motor and controller, wires were upgraded. Only used to run around the property (driveway is quite steep, it struggles in one spot) and to neighbors homes, we might start taking it to horse shows - no real "off-road".

Replaced the batteries (Sams club a couple of years ago) so not looking to upgrade voltage.

not that I have seen......and to be honest, don't think its really needed, as they are P-N-P.

Both the stock and aftermarket controllers connections are labeled the same, and have the same plugs on that for the same reason. All you would need to do is label each connection before you take it off, remove the controller, install the new controller, replace the connections and you done.

Here is the install sheet (below) I send out with the controller upgrade for your cart. I explains the process. Pkg #505 will get you going 20 mph with plenty of torque from your DCS cart. The kit is on sale now. This kit and 4g cables is all you will need for the Horse Shows.

While it's not a tutorial, there's good info for understanding your needs and options, as well as good packages and great prices and customer support here:

Yup - I'd seen the recommendation to contact Scotty in my searches, I've already browsed his site and will call him when I get off this 5hr conference call!

I thought it would require pulling wires off the motor, I guess those bolt on just like the battery wires. Would there be a benefit to upgrading those as well (I already have 4g battery wires) and is it relatively easy? The body will be coming back off anyway..
:)

4g cables is all you need for this cart unless you are going with a bigger aftermarket motor and 500 amp Control.... which I don't think you need for horse shows. I have had a few Ezgo DCS carts, I like the added torque and speed gains with the Alltrax 400. We used them around the ranch and at horse shows as you plan to do with yours.
One bit of advice I can give you about taking a golf cart camping or to a horse show is this ...... Bring the battery charger.
I thought well it's just my wife and 2 days on 20acres ..... how much can she drive? Right? Wrong! She loaned it out to every kid who asked for a joy ride & anybody who lost their whatever to drive around and look .... the poor cart was running 12 hours a day. LOL

The controller upgrade is a 15 minute job for a golf cart tech, 30 minutes for somebody who can follow the directions and 2 days for somebody who refuses to mark wires or take pictures before dis assembly - LOL

Sent an email instead of waiting to call..

Controller is ordered. As well as the 400A controller from Scott, I'm throwing out the batteries I got at Sams and upgrading to 7 Trojan 105's..

While I wait on those bits, I bought a couple of projector headlight units a while back. I'm going to retrofit those with HID's and replace the LED bulbs I have in there.

It's going to be a whole new machine.

.. and now have 7 new Trojan T-105's waiting for the controller. I actually put 6 in her just to get them out of the truck without having to move them multiple times! Will pick up a battery box this evening..
