Default Can some electrical guru's help/

Hey guys, I got a 1990 Marathon that came to me with all of the F/R cables off of it. Following the sticky I think I have it reassembled correctly but it will move only in forward.
I have checked it to the point that I have found a set of micro switches under the F/R switch on the drivers side. One is for the rev buzzer. Not sure what the other does but it is wired in line with the pot switch and if jumped the cart will run forward and reverse. It doesn't look like the F/R switch has been disassembled but there is no detent area for the switch when switched to forward and it opens the pot circuit and no run. Any Ideas on what I'm not understanding? Mitch

there should be micro,s on both sides.........one is like a double the other single........one for forward one for reverse........also possible the pot is bad but check the micros both sides and if there isn,t one on both sides that should be your problem................................

Thanks Tom,
The micro on the other side activates the solenoid and is working properly. That switch has a detent or notch to drop into in both forward and reverse. Thats why I didn't mention it but should have.
The one in question is like a double with only one arm. Half is for the reverse buzzer and the other closes the pot circuit when in forward or reverse. When put in forward, it drops into a notch in the F/R disc. When moved to reverse it doesn't have a notch to drop into so doesn't close the circuit for the pot switch which I have tested and works fine. I'm at a loss on this one. Mitch

The double micro acts as the switch for the reverse buzzer and the half speed reverse. Check your pot and see if you have 4 or two wires running from it. If you only have two and they go to the speed controller then that is fine. If you have 4 then 2 go to the controller and 2 go to the double micro on the f/r switch. Make sure you do not have these mixed up with your reverse buzzer, etc. You do not have to use the half speed reverse and can leave it unhooked.

If you have reverse then the pot is not bad it only works one way. You can check it by leaving the key switch off or safer yet disconnect the positve cable on the #1 battery post. Then remove the black and white wire on the controller from the pot and place your multi meter leads on each pot terminal. Set the meter to ohms and gradually depress the throttle. You should see the ohms scale up from 0 to somewhere not to exceed 5300 ohms. If so the pot is good. If not the pot is either out of adjustment or bad.
Good luck.

The pot has the four wires coming out of it, two going to the controler and two coming up front to the switch I'm asking about. When I unplug the two wires from the micro that are coming from the pot and jumper them the cart runs forward and reverse but seems to be full throtle both ways. I checked the pot with the vom and it is good. Mitch

Micro switch is bad or it's come off the cam. You said you redid it did you orent the F/R switch right. the stops have to line up the 4 contacts to make it move. But by the way you described it it's the micro switch since you say jumping them it runs in reverse at full throttle that's right the micro switch is half throttle for it to send signal back to the controller. Need a new micro switch more than likely.
