GEL Batteries ???
Ive been shopping around town for batteries form my ezgo 36 volt. I talk to this one battery store and told him my needs. He told me he can get me 6 of same type for around $550 , or i can go with a gel battery for about $350. 200 dollar saving sounds nice. He also said there was longer life on the gel batteries. I ask more specific about this battery and he said the gel had more amps. He said if he didnt have six in stock today he could rig up three and give me the same volts. He compared this setup to what wheelchairs use today. I asked him that with this setup would it harm any of the other components on the cart beings i just put in a new controller last week. He said it wouldnt. Im no electrical engineer but if any of you have any insight on this i would love to hear your input. Thanks

Re: GEL Batteries ???
Gel cell batteries tend to have lower AH capacities, therefor have a shorter lifespan in a golf cart. They also require a special charger, so you have to add the price of a new charger to the total cost.
Three 12V batteries will produce 36V, but 12V batteries have lower AH than 6V batteries, so run-time and life expectancy is shorter. Do yourself (and your cart) a favor and stick with six Deep-Cycle Lead-Acid Wet-Cell batteries, the higher the AH (Amp-Hour rating at the 20 Hour rate), the better. Here is a list of 6V batteries commonly used in golf carts. If the batteries you are looking at aren't on the list, find on with a similar AH rating and that is how it stacks up to what is available. BTW: Wheelchair requirements are only a fraction of what is needed for a golf cart. Also, you want a matched set of batteries, same AH rating, same date code. |

Re: GEL Batteries ???
I do not have charts for everything. Some are lists, others are drawings and then there are the photos.
