Default 97 TXT with DCS won't go

Controller and solenoid replaced by previous owner. Battery and all connections check good, including good connections at solenoid. Solenoid clicks after hitting the pedal. Reverse buzzer only works when I pull or move the black wire. Could it be the f/r switches are bad or do I need to dig deeper? With the solenoid clicking, it should be good (correct?).

I did push the pedal down slowly (very slow) while the key was on and in reverse, the cart moved maybe a 1/2" then nothing. Any help is appreciated

No, not necessarily.

Reverse is a two step process for a DCS.
One switch on the F/R passes voltage to the pedal switch, which in turn tells the controller to activate the solenoid.
Same thing happens in both F and R.

The other switch tells the controller to switch the direction of current flow in the field winds (Making armature rotate in opposite direction) and to sound the reverse beeper. This switch is only closed when the lever is in the reverse position.

If the reverse switch was bad, the cart would simple go forward when reverse was selected, so the problem is within the controller itself.

The stock DCS has some issues (IE: No under voltage cutoff), so replace it with an aftermarket one.
Check out the 505DCS package on this page: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Custom_Options.html

Thanks for the help and link JohnnieB! I was hoping it wasn't the controller or motor, more something simple I was overlooking. The controller and solenoid were replaced shortly before I purchased the cart, and I have never let the batteries go low on charge. Should I replace the f/r switches or reverse buzzer now considering the buzzer only works when the black wire is touched/has tension?

Try cleaning the 10-pin connector on the controller.

Then measure the voltage on Pin-4 (Orange wire) when F/R is in reverse and cart isn't moving.

If you have pack voltage on Pin-4 and cart isn't moving backwards, the controller is bad.

The buzzer may be a separate issue, but fix it after the cart is moving in reverse if the problem still exists (Controller controls buzzer also)
