Default Suggestions for LED driving lights?

My TXT had a set of rectangular lights installed on the front shock cover when I bought it and they are wired to the battery pack with rocker switch installed in dash. They work but really throw a poor beam and I am not happy with them. Granted I don't drive a lot at night but in the event I need to, I want lights that are effective. I have seen some LED addon lights on UTVs and they seemed to work well. Anyone have experience with adding LEDs? I have a separate 12 volt battery in my cart wired to a power point and thought I would also shift the lights to this 12 v deep cycle as well.

Any 12v LED's will work with your setup. There are a ton to choose from you just need a way of mounting them. I have seen alot of guys use a front brush guard and mount some like LED off road lights and such.

I've got 27w LEDs on mine not mounted good yet but they are very bright. actually bought some 5 watt LEDs also to use in campground cause the 27's will blind people.

Has anyone done a side by side comparison with standard 55 watt bulbs? Mine recently got smashed when a visiting kid hit the gas. Since I left the key "on", I can't blame him.

I'd love to get LEDs, but don't wanna sacrifice long distance illumination, especially since I do most of my high speed traveling at night.

"Blinding" and good illumination aren't necessarily the same.

One down side to LEDs is that you can't simply use a toggle switch to go from parallel to series for bright and dim. You have to do like I did on my dome light and tear apart the LED pack to toggle between some and all LEDs.

I plan to Chang my 2 27 watt lights from 12v to 24v. they can run on 10-30v so I'm going to run them on 4 batteries and my radio and other stuff of the other 2 batteries.

Agreed, but doesn't answer the question. How many watts/intensity/whatever? should I shoot for, to equal my (dead) 55 watt lamps?

I've seen a LOT of MagLights that used to use good ole bulbs, but now use LEDs. Their adjustability sux, and when batts are low, they don't go dim, they go out.

Again, I wanna buy something in the next coupla weeks, and would like LEDs, but I ain't been wowed yet.

Couple of H3 bulbs are $10. For now just change them and research the LEDs. MO
