Thumbs down Electrical Problems


I HAVE AN 2001 EZGO TXT CART...I JUST REPAINTED IT AND STARTING TO PUT BACK TOGETHER..WHEN I PLUGGED IN THE CHARGER NOTHING HAPPEN...I TOOK OFF ALL THE BATTERY CABLES AND EACH BATTERY HAS 6 VOLTS. I DO NOT KNOW IF SOMETHING IS HOOKED UP WRONG OR I MISSED SOMETHING OR WHAT. I TURNED THE KEY ON AND HIT THE PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPEN. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?

Have you checked to see you have all the cables hooked up. I have been doing these things for years and guess what...most of the time it's a cable I have left off.

I have checked all the wiring several times and everything looks ok..I even had my father n law check...wires are good...when I turn on the key and press the pedal I hear nothing I have no voltage to the key switch...could the selinoid be bad?

Where is the FR switch -

I'm willing to bet it has something to do with the little red wire that comes out of the charge plug and into the FR reed switch.

There are three wires coming from your charger port. The smallest of them is a red wire. Unplug this wire whaere it comes out of the harness and test it for power. If it has no power your reed switch has gone bad. You can bypass this by running a wire from the positive terminal where the charger hooks up to the battery(white wire) to the wire that goes into your F/R

my problem was the reed switch

I have it off and my cart is running...what is this for and do I need to get a new 1 right away?

safety feature for charging........you should be fine without it but they are inexpensive and being that is a safety feature you might want to order one.......i beleive under 20 bucks.............................

The reed switch is there to disable the cart when the charger is plugged in. It keeps you from dragging your charger down the road...LOL It's fine to go without it but just remember to unplug the charger before you take off. Glad to help. Happy Carting
