Default Is this the right controller? 11994 EZ GO

My 1994 medalist has a 3 prong controller, ran the PN for controller says it's a 1206, if this the right contoller where does the A2 wire go? All the diagrams I see on here show a 4 prong contoller, did someone put the wrong controller in? here's the model and serial no. for this cart. 13L94 ser# 835360

This is a correct application. The A2 wires simply bypass the control when using a 3 blade control.

1. The Curtis 1206 controller came with and without an A2 terminal and EZGO used both, so there is no right and wrong.

2. In carts that came from the factory with controller without the A2 terminal, the cable from the A2 terminal on the motor connected to the "C" terminal on the F/R switch.
In carts whose controllers did have an A2 terminal, the cable from A2 terminal on the motor connected to the A2 terminal on the controller and a separate cable connected the A2 terminal on the controller to the "C" terminal on the F/R switch.
If the four terminal controller was replaced with a three terminal one, the two cables were sometimes bolted together to form one cable long enough to reach from motor to F/R switch, or the two cables were replaced with a single longer one.

3. See attached. (I erased the A2 cable - )

ok, got everything rewired to from motor to fnr, now trying to figure out what wires go to the solinoid, confused by what black wires go where? does any thick wires go to it? the diagram shows the battery cables going directly to the controller, I'm lost here. I have a small black wire with a bigger connector ring on it, with the other end connected to the solinoid small terminals. does anyone have pics of their set up for a 1206?

Does B+go from batt, then connect to solinoid, then to B+ controller terminal?

The cable from the battery pack's main positive terminal connects to one of the large terminals on the solenoid.

The schematic shows a cable going from the other large terminal to the B+ terminal on the controller and then another cable going to the "A" terminal on the F/R switch, but remember it is a schematic, not a wiring diagram, so it shows electrical connections rather than physical connections.

The solenoid in your cart may have two cables on the other large terminal, one going to B+ terminal on the controller and the second going to the "A" terminal on the F/R switch.

Either way will work.

Thanks Johnnie, thats what I thought, do I have to have the diode and resistor on the solenoid? if so what size are they?
