Default Installing Diode

2002 fleet series 36v after replacing diode that I hooked up with stripe to the battery side pos I blew the reed switch. So after checking I had knocked off the orange wire from f/r (maybe it caused the short to reed) but anyway I reconnected back the org wire and bypassed reed but still not certain which way the diode goes. So looking from front of cart and box is to the left; does it hook up with stripe to right (black wires) or left (red wires) on small terminals, thanks.

I just went out to my garage and looked at mine.......looking from the front as your described, the stripe should be to the left (red wires) on the small terminals.

Lots of people get confused about the activation circuit diode orientation. All you need to know is the banded end of the diode goes towards the little post with the + wires on it..... 'great you say but, how do I know which small post the + wires belong on in the first place?'
The simple answer is they 'belong' on either post - you decide. that's right , of the 2 small posts one will have the + wires on it and the other will have the - wires on and you decide which is which.
Only 2 critical things to know and watch here... 1. no + and - wires get mixed up and land on the same post. So tag every wire before dis-assembly and 2. the banded end of the diode goes towards the post with the + wires on it... On your Ezgo TXT these + wires are red and or yellow.
Remember both of the big cables are + and they have nothing to do with which small post is + or - ....... you decide.

Hope this helps, See install diagram.

I see what you guys are saying; sir nuke you are like me using the red wires as pos and black as neg. So my problem was when I installed the new one I went by this picture (I saw somewhere on forums)not taking into consideration that u define you own pos/neg terminals. As a young mechanic helper about 55 yrs ago I was taught that if red and black then red was pos and black was neg; guess that's not always the case. Thanks for the clarification.

My thing is I can read it ten times and may not get it, but show me once and I can repair anything.

Also glad to meet you scottyb, am planning to buy some hd parts from you, like the f/r cam since I have several boards I could change this out and then just replace whole board when ready.
