Default reversing contactor

I have an ezgo txt that I just rebuilt for hunting with the 500 amp alltrax,2ga wires,hd f&r switch and I made it 48 volts with the stock motor. This weekend I was trying it out in the hills and burnt up the f&r switch. Now I am researching what would be the most durable option and I am thinking about the reversing contactor.Would this be the best option?

I run 500 amps through my HD FNR, and there are folks who push more through theirs. I've never priced reversing contactors, but once you figure the cabling, wiring, new switch (on dash?), etc, I would imagine you'd be better off sticking with a (new) HD FNR.

One thing that might be helpful would be some pics. FNRs can melt if the cables are loose, if the center nut is loose, if the contacts get dirty, or if it's not as HD as some.

It was pretty dusty and I had a cable that wasn't real tight,I think it could have got a little loose from heating up and cooling.Scotty has the reversing contactors with the switch on his web site.

That reversing contactor with the rocker switch is pretty slick. No reaching for the dash like PDS carts. Tempting........

It is a very slick little set up.
Scottginfla just put one of my kits in his buddy's CC.
I have my Ezgo TXT test model in daily use. Shifting was never so easy or so much fun. I am an Ezgo guy but I always loved the convenience of the CC toggle switch just below the seat cushion by your knee. Now we have the best of both worlds.
Available in 2 models, Heavy Duty for up to 500 amps and Super Duty for 500 and up controllers. The Super Duty conversion kit is just $222. You won't burn this baby up!

PS
If you just want a rotary style F&R that will hang in there with your set up give the Carts Unlimited HD F&R (#EZ575) a try. It has 60% greater amperage handling and cooling capacity. Nobody has burnt one up yet. The competition can't say that.

Yes you can still use half speed reverse and reverse back up beepers with a reversing contactor. See install sheet below. You will receive another diagram which shows where cables marked #4,5,&8 are on the rotary switch. This makes for a very easy install. You get the Contactor and the custom stainless steel mount bracket, the diodes, the F&R switch, and the F&R switch housing shown. The mount bracket is a bolt in fit for Ezgo TXT. You provide a few feet of multi strand automotive 12-14g wire and crimp on spade connectors to complete the install.
