Default Simple Charger Question

Will be getting delivery on a 2010 RXV cart for my wife in a couple of weeks, our FIRST golf cart. My question is MUST the charger be plugged directly into a wall outlet, or is it ok to use an extension cord to the charger ? The side of the garage I would like to park the cart on won't have a outlet right near where the cart will be parked. Do these chargers draw a lot of amps ?
THANKS

Unless the distance is over about 20', a 14ga extension cord will probably suffice.

It depends on the charger, but most draw no more than 10A-12A during the bulk charge phase. Check the label on the charger, it should give you max input amps.

If it takes much longer to charge the batteries using an extension cord, the cord is too small, use one with heavier gauge wiring.
Or is extension cord feels the least bit warm, go bigger.

Sounds good ! I have a real nice 9 ft. 14g extension that will reach nicely. I will check the label on the charger when I get it.
Thanks for the help
